Review on πŸ“€ Maxell 625335 High-Sensitivity Recording Layer Recordable CD: Optimal Audio Performance, 700mb/80 min by Davon Man

Revainrating 2 out of 5

I have previously ordered hundreds of Maxell CD-R music CDs with no problems - they have been an excellent product! I recently ordered these (significantly) cheaper packages.

Perhaps this is an unfair rating as I'm not sure if the problem is with CDs. I have previously ordered hundreds of Maxell CD-R music CDs with no problems - they have been an excellent product! I recently ordered these (significantly) cheaper 50 packs and have had a lot of problems. I think I'll be returning some of them as I doubt they can be any different from the ones in the original listings (which I had no trouble with). Note that this list is fairly recent. I thought it might be the "holiday/black friday" price but now I'm wondering if there's another reason they're so much cheaper. Let's just say I'm suspicious. Why so suddenly. so many problems? The problem seems to be that the first few songs on the burned CD won't play. They're recorded - you can tell by the number of tracks and the time shown on the display - and sometimes they'll play if you wait 20-30 seconds after pressing play. I copied some CDs and sent them to friends as gifts and they had the same problem with some CDs, so this is not my stereo. My copier is fairly new but I can't say for sure that's not the problem, it's just a coincidence that it started having problems when I was trying these CDs. Maxell fan since the cassette! If the problem is with these (pack of 50 for less than 16.00) CDs, I doubt they are really Maxell CDs! To update! This is a few days after my original 2 star review was posted. I got feedback from most of my friends who got ripped CDs from me. You either see no problems or just a few (from multiple disks). People who say there are no problems confirm that sometimes many CDs start playing after a while, but they think it's not a big problem. For the price of these 50 CDs I think I have to change my rating to 4 stars as it is great value for money. Personally, I'd rather pay a little more and get the quality of the original 500 CDs. I'm leaving my 2-star review to draw attention to this possible disc difference, just in case it might matter to someone else. Of course, as I said, my duplicator could be the problem, although I did find a few Memorex blanks I had in stock and dubbed onto ones that didn't have any lag or playback issues. I'm still a Maxell fan!
