Review on πŸ–€ Sanus SF34-B1 Steel Foundation IV 34" Black - Sleek and Sturdy Stand for Home Theater Systems by Brooke Stolen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

My new SVS bookshelf speakers fit this stand perfectly and look proportionate

Really 4 1/2. They are much larger in reality than in the photo. My new SVS bookshelf speakers fit this stand perfectly and look proportionate. However, there shouldn't be a universal standard for stands and speaker mounts - stands have different mounting holes that support 'some speakers' but not SVS. I used a Blu-Tac for assembly, which was easy enough, but the 6x6 top board is a bit small for large bookshelves. The listed load spec of 25lbs is extremely conservative, I think they will handle 75lbs. easy. I have used Sanus TV wall mounts and have always been impressed with their durability and documentation. It's a step below their TV mounts from a tech standpoint, but way better than most of the trash-level coasters on Revain. The two vertical columns don't align vertically on their own, friendly persuasion is required, and a single screw holding the column would be much stronger with two screws. I really never encountered the sand/no-sand debate before buying, but I don't see the need for sand unless you're trying to put full towers on it. I have pedestals on a wooden floor with rubber feet that are too hard to fit into the holes in the floor panel and I forget to move the pedestals with the rubber feet installed when they slide out of the hole. Cable management is the most frustrating non-feature, with a big loop at the top and bottom. Adding a homemade cable management tool is tricky as a very good powder coating finish prevents almost anything from sticking to it. I ended up just making big black zip ties. So, despite numerous areas that could be improved, they are only slightly overpriced and the best choice for the mid-range price.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Some bugs
