Review on ๐ŸŽง Etymotic Research HF3: High-Fidelity Noise-Isolating In-Ear Earphones with Advanced 3 Button Microphone Control by Patty Martin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fantastic headphones, stellar sound!

This is my second pair of Etymotic headphones. I decided it was time to replace my 10 year old pair of ER6i's with something with a built in remote control. They came with all the standard accessories; additional ear pads, lapel clip, additional filters and case. Triple flange tips have never been my favorite so I ordered a set of universal double flange tips which still work great. (Revain has them too, in case anyone is interested). The sound is exactly what I expect from Etymotic. Clear highs, good mids and weak but very controlled bass. Definitely not for you if you like bass. The separation is good for such a small IEM, the soundstage actually sounds bigger than my full size Sennheiser Momentum headphones! I listen exclusively without amplification, so I can't say if the sound would improve with the extra juice (although I've read that the difference is negligible). I leave you a small sound sample. Playability of these headphones: I was listening to a recording of McCoy Tyner's "Blue Monk" on my lunch break and thought I heard a defect in the headphones during the bass solo. Upon closer inspection, I actually heard the snare drum bass on the original recording! Fiction!
