Review on Enhanced Performance with EBC Brakes DP31955C Redstuff Ceramic Low Dust Brake Pad by Jim Shirodkar

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Pretty but a bit dusty

After reading mixed reviews I finally decided to wear them. Matching maxima (rear) like OEM, quiet, bites better than OEM and Akebono. Only one thing disappointed me - BRAKE DUST! I've only driven 500 miles, but the amount of dust on my wheels is 4 times more than OEM and at least 20 times more than Akebono! The EBC website said the red material was "nearly dust-free." Well, you may have missed the 'if your rims are black' clause. to see its full potential after 1500 miles of lapping. Will provide an update to this review if there are notable improvements. ****UPDATE: 1300 Miles**** DUST! DUST! and DUST! Compared to OE and Akebono. But I've seen worse dust on other cars, especially European ones. Although it's about 50% less. Braking power is very good. Then it gets better when it's warm and requires less leg strength. I'm happy when I drive and I get sad when I get out of the car and see my rims. ****UPDATE: 2200 miles**** The good news is that the dust seems to decrease somewhat as the mileage goes up (or should I say until it's fully snug?). It's about 30-40% less dust than at about 1300 miles, but still not as clean as the OE. I'll try to post a photo of my rear wheel later. In general, the purchase is very satisfied. These red EBC pads are quieter and grip better than the originals (even though I put them on their backs I really felt the difference). I can't comment on the disappearance of the brakes as I don't ride trails and it's too early to talk about rotor wear.
