Review on Bargman 54006-010 Heavy-Duty Cold Weather Insulated 7-Way Molded Trailer End with 8' Cable: Ultimate Protection for severe conditions by Jay Elgouhari

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent quality cable, incorrect color coding of wiring.

First of all, this is a very high quality cable. The only design improvement I'd like to see is tinned copper core wire (marine grade) for longer life and more corrosion protection, and proper wiring color coding. Very flexible cable, matt like a welding cable. The packaging says "Made in Mexico", not China. My biggest gripe with most Revain cables is the 7 pin auto connector, most of them don't have a proper safety tab at the top for the spring loaded cap to lock the connector on this cable! 10 AWG wiring for white, black and red and 14 AWG for blue, green, yellow and brown. Most cheap cables are only 14 AWG for all wires, and some higher quality cables are 10 AWG for +12V and a 12 AWG ground for the brakes. This cable is better than this one. See my color coding comments below. Color coding is fully compliant with Bargman (possibly UK) standards, not US SAE or RV standards. They are color coded on the cable to help you plug it in correctly. Remember that from the side of the car all the pins are the same, they do not change their position in any standard, only the color of the wiring, which the manufacturer chooses, distinguishes the standards. I took a minute and checked the connector color key wiring and it is wired up as Bargman says: Black is Brake 10, Red is +12v 10, White is Ground 10, Blue is Reverse 14, Yellow is Brake/LT rotation . 14, Green - Brake/RT Turn 14, Brown - Tail/Run Lights 14.
