Review on Neofyte T14P Portable External Raspberry with Built-In Speakers, 60Hz by Jose Henry

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good monitor; Bad "Smart Cover Stand "

The monitor is good. I've attached a picture of it running alongside a similar monitor that I reviewed and gave five stars a few weeks ago. The pictures on both look very good to me. Colors are vibrant and text is easy to read. No flickering or anything like that. It works well. This monitor has a mini HDMI port and two USB-C ports, as well as controls for sound and some picture properties. Everything works. If I had only bought it for the monitor it would have been five stars. The real problem is the "Smart Cover Stand". He gets zero points for Intelligence, one point for Cover, and zero points for Standing up. First, let me point out that some of the reviewers here are posting images of a separate three-armed stand that supposedly came with their monitor. You may have received a different copy of this product. There is no room for such a stand in my box and the one I received did not have such a stand. As a cover, the piece that comes with this monitor wraps around the front and back providing some protection. The problem is that it only touches the monitor on one of the long edges. Bend your arm slightly while carrying the monitor and you could start testing the monitor's strength as it slides out of the cover. There is no way to connect the monitor and cover or close the open three edges in any way. As for the stand, forget it. There are a few creases on the cover that provide small indentations, but they do next to nothing. I have tried everything including the positions pictured here and nothing has been able to hold the monitor. Building a tent by folding the cover costs nothing. Doesn't hold position. If you need to set up a tent, placing a monitor against it will instantly destroy it. In the attached image, where the monitor was more or less vertical, I succeeded because I placed heavy objects behind the monitor. Even then, the bottom edge of the monitor would slide along the lid (even when placed in one of the recesses) and end up lying flat on its back on the table. In contrast, the monitor to the right of this one in my picture has a slim built-in mount on the back that is infinitely adjustable and has just enough friction to hold the monitor in any position I choose. If you don't need a cover or a stand, this monitor might be the right choice. If you're planning on transporting it and installing it at your destination with a 'smart stand', I recommend you look elsewhere.
