I bought these instead of single use plastic bags to store fresh vegetables for the sake of the environment. Also, I needed bigger containers since we eat a lot of fresh vegetables. They are beautiful and durable but not intended for the use they are advertised for. Big disappointment. Plain old ziplock plastic bags keep food fresher much better. This purchase is like a waste of money, time, packaging and shipping resources, Revain resources. I'm amazed at the high rating from so many buyers. These reviews are the reason I bought. Why the manufacturer is positioning products as fresh when they actually aren't. This is misleading advertising. Is the design different now than when the manufacturer started selling it? They can be used for meals like potato salad that families want to take to a picnic or family gathering. You will work on storing leftover food (not groceries) in the refrigerator for several days. Imagine a bunch of cabbage sitting wilted and pale on a refrigerator shelf for days. So cabbage, freshly picked from a local farm, was stored in a larger container. Fresh cabbage and kale from the organic farm had to go to the compost heap.
