It also fits with the tripod down, so I can leave it on if I don't want to extend the center column all the way. 05/10/13 - went to my daughter's concert to record a video. I used to be unable to get up on a tripod on a sloping floor between recliner seats. It was perfect. I have a ball head on my tripod as I mainly take photos. Use the center column to pan to level the tripod and then use the hot shoe level to level the camera which made the video much better.
