I picked up a pack of these to charge my new Pixel 2 XL. Unfortunately, every time I unplug these cables, the cable makes some kind of arcing/ crackling noise, which seems quite annoying. I don't see any discoloration on the ends, but it definitely doesn't sound perfect. This is done with all three cables in the package. This doesn't happen with the USB-C cable that came with the Pixel. Time to try something different!
