I update the rating after a month of wearing 3-4 times a week. The elastic that holds the tongue proved annoying and needs to be adjusted every time I put the shoe on to keep it from tightening inside the shoe. But much worse is that the elastic on the leg pinches (I have a high arch). Even with barely tied shoelaces, there is constant pressure that is barely noticeable at first, but becomes very annoying after 10-12 hours of wearing. I'm stocking up on TG3 gloves and I hope the TG5 returns to it's original and great design. I've owned every model of trail glove from the TG1 to the current TG4. They were all fantastic, fit great, were very comfortable and also durable (unlike the Vapor gloves which each pair fell apart on me for months). In any case, the TG 4 is the most comfortable of them all. Merrell addressed an issue with the TG3 where their durable plastic arch contour bit into the arch for the first few times the shoe was worn. Not a huge issue as it broke after a few days of wear but in comparison the TG4 was instantly comfortable. Interesting tongue design, the continuous surface over the arch feels great as there are no seams or ridges to cause pressure points. . I don't particularly like the elastic strap that holds the other side of the tongue, it requires some fiddling when putting the shoe on. In this area I prefer the design of previous TGs with lace eyelets that attach to the tongue and hold it securely in place. Maybe they tried using this with a new style language and it didn't work? Anyway, I'm getting used to the stretchy stuff and it's no problem putting shoes on. Minor niggles assuming these shoes hold up like my previous TGs they will be 5 stars!
