Review on GoPro HERO8 Black Ultimate Bundle - HERO8 Black Camera, Shorty, Head Strap, 32GB SD Card, 2 Rechargeable Batteries by Ghazanfar Ali ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The product is the most common, it could be worse.

The most annoying thing so far is the dampness of the software, due to which moments are lost, and even whole shot pieces and ergonomics, due to which absolutely unnecessary 99.9% of the time modes are constantly turned on and shooting is jammed. According to Murphy's law, the best fragments deteriorate. Other shortcomings are less significant. In general, the camera, if you use it for its intended purpose, is still, IMHO, the best thing you can buy for these purposes. Combining good video with great stabilization in a tiny body, the gopro is a prime candidate for shooting personal sports adventures, it's a great camera for documenting your travels - tiny, yet you can go and shoot handheld during the day with great results. I compared it with an optical stub in an s8 smartphone and in an Olympus camera - a simple electronic one simply doesn’t leave them any chances - you can really use it on the go or even on the run, and "real optical" ones are only suitable for "standing" frames - even a leisurely step is already normal are not processed. In general, after the release of gopro 9, judging by the first reviews, the figure eight completely turned into a pumpkin - this is too raw a device and IMHO - an indicator of gopro's attitude towards its products and its customers - they were sold an essentially unfinished product and in fact did not begin to finish it. The camera was interesting and still is interesting (only NOT for use in cold climates) but compared to the gopro9 it has completely lost its relevance. Only because that one (according to reviews) was released more refined.

Pros
  • - Very cool stabilization. Gopro works wonders. A purely software stub is great, it's really almost like a gimbal in terms of the result - the tremor of the hands is completely removed, even quite large shaking, bumps, etc. are almost completely eaten. I was very surprised that the gopro software stub is much better than the optical one in all the comparisons that I saw and in which I compared myself. - The video quality is excellent, this is approximately the level that the camera of the top-end smartphones of the latest models will give out (relevant for 2022) - everything that can be squeezed out of 1 / 2.3 is squeezed out. By the end of 2022, this is already more of a "middle and top" but nevertheless - plus or minus will be similar to how an older smartphone shoots. - Flexible ability to create a bunch of modes in the form of presets, which are then selected in a couple of taps. Modes are minimally limited by software. "Software lens change" for example - in fact, crop but works well for video. - Decent video recording modes. All sorts of 4k-60fps, and broken at 240fps. - Waterproof out of the box. Popularity partially compensates for the greed of the company that made a poor package (in the hope that you will buy more extras for half the price of the camera) - the Chinese quickly rivet billions of accessories.
Cons
  • - Ergonomics. Yes, it is clear that the waterproof case dictates the conditions, but this creates specific problems. In just a few days of filming, there are already plenty of clips screwed up by the fact that the camera was accidentally switched to time-lapse mode. - It was not possible to test in frosts this winter, but in very moderate cold (0, - 1 degrees), the camera can freeze quite quickly. One way or another, the winter operating time, even with such not very cold, is very modest - it seemed subjectively that for 15-20 minutes of the total time in the on state, the camera goes to zero. - Still small 1 / 2.3 "in 2022-20th. Accordingly, pulling out the same color depth as in larger matrices will not work. In the dark, the camera turns into a pumpkin instantly, there is not a trace of the quality of shooting. The camera was created for shooting in daylight, in the twilight it should not be used. - The lens is also the usual ultra-chic fisheye. The software cut helps only partially, and the "solution" is not indisputable. Very strong distortion, the wider mode is on - the stronger. - Glitches, firmware dampness. At some point it comes to the fore. The reliability of the camera is sometimes a bottom and a disgrace. You buy a branded product and it works in terms of reliability like Chinese rubbish for 1/10 of the price. For some reason, the camera gives out recording errors, then for some reason it suddenly turns on in your pocket and discharges to zero, then it just freezes and until you take out the battery it does not turn on. The interface is jerky. Glitches obviously no one is going to fix. As much as the work of programmers on the creation of electronic stabilization impressed, it also impresses in the negative direction with the terrible rest of the firmware. - The price still looks too high for a small camera with a small matrix and not a very fresh processor. Especially in 2022. At the same time, the equipment is very poor. - Actually, equipment. Protective box - separately. Glass on the lens - separately, etc. There is no standard screw for tripods, all accessories - look separately. Etc.

It gets very hot when in use. Not a convenient Charging slot (you need to constantly remove the cover). And so the functionality corresponds to the description. The camera is satisfied.
