A user friendly system that was easy to set up as the cameras were already pre-paired but more difficult to navigate and set up the software. The "assistant" quickly got me online with the cameras, but I got bogged down in confusing setup instructions to get online and connect to the app. You don't need internet or a router to set up the system (but you can't view cameras remotely, of course). The user manual has a lot of text to read, but some important details that are hidden include that the default username and password are "admin" and "admin". The camera system connects easily to my TV and comes with a mouse and dash cam. Signal strength from the cameras dropped by about half fairly quickly at just 20 feet and through a wall, so be careful when placing them. One of the initial downsides was that this system didn't come with a hard drive, but it did include formatting software if you wanted to reuse an old hard drive. There are two USB ports on the back, meaning you can use the mouse while downloading files to the drive. When setting up cameras and NVRs, keep in mind that the cables that come with them are quite short, so you will likely need AC and/or DC extension cables to power the cameras, a longer Ethernet cable, and a mouse with a longer cable . anywhere but on the DVR. The system allowed me to see inside the house and yard with good clarity day and night. Cameras tend to focus on objects in the foreground, especially in night mode. At night, through a curtained window, it will definitely not work. Cameras get very hot in IR mode, so be careful. The cameras need to be mounted/bolted onto something rather than standing alone as the bases are quite small. I was glad that this system, like other comparable installations, does not require a monthly fee. Setting up the app is a bit tricky as the QR code leads to an .APK download and not the normal app store. Despite this, you can easily download videos to a USB stick or save them to an installed hard drive. I have some complaints about the app used for this NVR as you can only view one camera at a time and it uses a non-HD image by default. Some disadvantages are that this system only comes with video with no sound. The average frame rate is 15 fps, which makes the video stutter a bit, but it's passable.
