Review on πŸ”‹ Tymate Tire Pressure Monitoring System - Solar Charged for Efficient Performance by Brian Schultz

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Preliminary report after a few weeks of use

I only deducted one star because this report is preliminary. If the item (and batteries) hold up after 6 months I can upgrade to 5 stars. The BTW battery is listed as CR1632 (relatively common) in the user manual, not CR1232 which is listed in the product description. I haven't opened it to see what it is. The device works well, it's easy to install (I didn't protect it against theft) and it has a display that's easy to read and easy to set up if you read all the instructions. The valve caps are marked LF, RF etc. but the rubber valve caps supplied are not marked (safety?) so when changing tires it is more difficult to get the valve caps in the right place. NOTE: If you install it as recommended. (Anti-theft), you'd better not lose the installation tools. When you bring your vehicle in for service, the service technician may damage the unit while attempting to remove the anti-theft tire "valve caps”. were high), I noticed this year that the LCD overheats in the sun and stops working until it cools down. I know LCDs are sensitive to heat, but for a product that needs to stay in the sun to charge, this is bad behavior. I'm deducting an extra star for this issue. I'm on latitude 39 (Midland). I can't imagine how bad this unit would be in Florida, Airizona or any other sunny location.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Repair
