A friend found a single kitten watch under her car. After several hours of waiting, it turned out that the poor guy had indeed been abandoned, and finally I agreed to take care of him. I've never seen a kitten that small, let alone taken care of him. We started with a regular mix that is sold at a nearby large pet store. The kitten gained weight very well with the purchased mixture, but I noticed that the droppings made him uncomfortable. He squeaked and squirmed. A few days later, the kitten also developed a strong fishy odor that spread throughout the room. It was bad. We bathed, changed blankets, cleaned the box, consulted the vet, everything. Multiple times. The vet didn't know what happened. Fortunately, I know an experienced cat rescuer who suggested we switch to Breeder's Edge formula. The little guy took it with no problem and the smell was completely gone within 24 hours! His stool has also completely changed. It had gone from hard and dark to more like a nursing baby's poop and he didn't seem to care much. We are still using this formula at almost 4 weeks old and am about to order another can. I don't know about the other formula that makes some kittens stink, but I've seen others mention it online. Breeder's Edge is totally worth the few extra dollars and hassle to order online!
