Review on 🎧 High-Quality Audio-Technica AT-MONO3/LP Moving Coil Mono Cartridge - Japan Import by Danielle Hartman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Outstanding sound quality Hi-Fi

Arrived on time. The cassette console is slightly not parallel to the sides of the car. I was a bit apprehensive, but I only tilted the cartridge slightly while attaching it to the head body. The cantilever/stylus didn't look damaged and the game was proof of that. I listened to Beatles mono records, New Conceptions by Bill Evans, Verve Collection Series Mulligan/Getz/Desmond. For the price, the sound can't be beat! I would describe the sound as open, balanced from top to bottom and soft. The depth of the soundstage reminds me of my stereo car. I've had it for less than a week and it sounds better every time. Maybe the $300+ Ortofon 2m mono might sound better, but so far I haven't felt the need to upgrade. Update: Now that I've had more time to review this car deserves 5 stars (originally advertised 4). I was unfair given the price; I think it's a dream book. The sound is so natural, smooth and pleasant with lots of air around the instruments. I'm addicted to music and keep coming back to it. FWIW, I'm using a Shiit Mani phono stage with a 47 ohm load (not 47k ohms) and a gain of 42. Is that ideal? no My only gripe is that the soundstage collapses a little during fast, complex orchestral crescendos, but I've heard much more expensive cars do the same.

Pros
  • Good workmanship
Cons
  • Style 90
