Very happy with this purchase

I used a stereo cart (Empire MC20 Plus) to play mono records. Huge difference to that. I buy 99% of my records from thrift stores and old dusty mono discs play very well on this cartridge. Recordings that I would consider unplayable on my stereo cartridge sound very good on this mono cartridge. I hooked it up to a Denon DP-300F turntable. Fits well and will not scratch thick vinyls when returned. Very happy with this purchase.

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • Good but not great

Excellent mono pickup

Excellent mono pickup, works well on old records, definitely less noise than a stereo pickup on the same record. Don't expect miracles if the record is physically damaged, of course, but the usual pops and ticks are a little quieter or absent entirely on this car. I was curious if it would work well with my amp's onboard phono stage input, which is only advertised for MM wagons, but considering it's a high-output moving coil cartridge, it did great is working.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Bad guide

A mono pickup sounds better than a stereo pickup on a mono record.

Mono plates surprise with transparent, clear and dynamic sound. Also, certain mono music is not very different from stereo. I'm thinking of things like small jazz bands, piano and other small groups of instruments. You can usually see a left to right spread. I expected stereo to always be better than mono, but have come to the conclusion that it isn't. This cassette handles mono recording well at a low price.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • There are problems

I bought this cassette to use with my recently purchased Beatles in Mono LP set. I have other monos on vinyl but have never bothered with them before. An added benefit is that this is a moving coil cartridge rather than a moving magnet cartridge which typically has better sonic resolution and performance. I installed it on a Thorens TD 147 Mk. II (1985) on a spare TP63 arm I bought a while ago. The results are superb, a clear and bright soundstage, I thought it was a bit weak on the bass but…

Great cart for old and new mono records

I used a tapered stylus stereo cartridge to play my mono records from the 50's and 60's. I bought the '78 version of this car and was so impressed with the difference that I went for the LP version. The difference between this and my conical stereo summed to mono is significant. Because this dolly doesn't convert the vertical stroke of the needle to sound, my old mono LP plays much quieter. I buy a lot of used records at thrift stores and flea markets and some of those that show a slight wear…

Outstanding sound quality Hi-Fi

Arrived on time. The cassette console is slightly not parallel to the sides of the car. I was a bit apprehensive, but I only tilted the cartridge slightly while attaching it to the head body. The cantilever/stylus didn't look damaged and the game was proof of that. I listened to Beatles mono records, New Conceptions by Bill Evans, Verve Collection Series Mulligan/Getz/Desmond. For the price, the sound can't be beat! I would describe the sound as open, balanced from top to bottom and soft. The…

Small improvement for mono records

I have many mono records from the 1950's and 1960's (including several hundred 10" records) and after many years of their AT440MLa I decided on this one based on reviews pickup decided here. After switching from a stereo cassette to the AT-MONO3/LP, one reviewer commented that the difference was "day and night". For me the difference wasn't that noticeable. The AT-MONO3/LP tracks well and has a nice tonal "balance" (not as bright as my AT440MLa). I don't notice a significant reduction in clicks

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No machine
