Surprisingly this switch fits my very old floor lamp perfectly. I could have used some of the fittings from the old switch but the new ones came with the new switch so I used those. Replacing the switch and working with the lamp only took about 30 minutes. This switch is a little tight. It takes a little more torque compared to the old switch, but it works at all three levels: 100, 200, and 300 watts. The lamp actually contains two filaments. The switch works by turning on the first stage (100w), then the second stage (200w), then the third stage, both filaments (100w + 200w). To turn off the lamp after using the 100W stage, you must first cycle through the other two stages, then by turning slightly to "off"!
