Like most poor Americans, I remember how much money I have in my bank account when I buy things. I bought this Braun Series 9293s shaver because I figured I could add a cleaning station a little later after the shaver was originally purchased. I could tell from the ad that the 9 series shaver has a cleaning station, so I figured I'd just buy a cleaning station later since the original purchase of just the shaver and charging station was a whopping $249. so no problem, i'll buy myself a cleaning station a little later. Well, as it turns out, Brown won't let that happen. When you buy a 9293s series shaver, it lacks the microchip that allows it to "talk" to a cleaning station. So if you buy a cleaning station later, it just won't work with a 9293s series shaver. That's probably why you see reviews from so many people returning their brush stations as "non-working" because their 9293s series shaver doesn't interact with the brush base. It seems that if you wanted a cleaning station for your 9 series shaver you should know that at the time of your original purchase you chose a shaving kit that included a cleaning station. Otherwise you will not be able to buy a cleaning station for your 9293s series shaver afterwards. What a strange marketing strategy for Braun. Brown, how did you let this happen and why didn't you let your potential customers interested in your razors know about it? I'm very disappointed with this little "strategy" and wouldn't buy Braun again based on how things turned out. I don't think that's fair to the buyer. Wouldn't it be better for everyone to just add the required "chip" to the 9293 series and increase the cost of the product to cover the cost of the chip? At that time, a sewage treatment plant could be purchased at a later date if personal finances permitted. Attention! If you need a cleaning station, don't buy a 9293s shaver thinking you'll buy a cleaning station later or fall into this little trap. If you need a cleaning station, buy this as a complete set so that the shaver can communicate with the cleaning station. If you need a cleaning station look no further than the 9 Series 9290cc. I hope this will be helpful to you. I wish someone could point me in the right direction as $249 is a lot and I can't benefit from a cleaning station due to missing a small microchip. It seems such a short-sighted approach by Braun in a market where consumers can be selective about their future purchases.
