We live in Chicago and often ride snowmobiles in northern Michigan. My 5 and 6 year old boys LOVE them. We wear them over a pair of thin cotton/poly socks and paired with their winter boots they can play outside for hours without even thinking about their toes. You wash well. The first time I washed them inside out to get rid of as many loose fibers as possible. After that we didn't notice any more moulting. Sometimes they wear them to school with regular sneakers.
