Well, while it lasted.

I read somewhere that they have a 2 or 3 year warranty, not sure. I went to the Sandisk site and started an RMA because that little drive stopped working. I had it a little less than 2 years before the date of purchase and suddenly it said "read only"! Big disappointment because I didn't write protect it and didn't do anything to write to it and I use this drive like all my drives - I have about 20 different brands and sizes. I spent A LOT of time trying to disable the write protection to no avail, wasting hours and hours, which only annoyed me more and more. I'm sure some of these online procedures might work for some drives, but I've come across information that suggests some drives just fail and suddenly say 'read-only'. I had a backup of most of the data so it's not a big deal but a file I'm very angry about losing. Since I had personal info on it, the RMA deal forced me to drill holes in the front and back, which I couldn't because it's metal and I don't have new drill bits for it. I ended up driving a big nail in there. I had to take a photo of the intentional damage on the front and back and send another email. I'm now waiting to see if all that time and energy will bring me a new little 16GB stick - what a test. I bought it here as a supplement. If they just give the money back I'll probably scream because it just wasn't worth the time and energy put in. I assume this is a risk associated with using small flash drives. So if your drive suddenly says it's write-protected, just spend a few minutes online undoing it and then simply contact the manufacturer. Lastly, back up all your files before they fail.
