After watching several videos online on how to program a character LCD with only 4-8 switches and one button, I decided to give it a try and ordered this one first . step to achieve this goal. I then added some project boxes, switches and potentiometers to the cart along with this 16x2 display and after waiting a week for my parts to arrive, after the initial setup, starting with the initialization of the display, everything worked as expected get going. to enter ASCII characters in binary format. Considering that the backlight requires 3.3 volts DC and I plan to power everything from a single 5 volt power supply, I decided to add a 4.7kΩ resistor in series with the backlight LED to switch protection, although this matches some of my old ones See the RadioShack electronics manuals for a 1kΩ resistor that also works fine. Overall, I'm very happy with the SunFounder 16x2 character display. Maybe I'll buy another one sometime in the future if I have an Arduino or Raspberry Pi to control it.
