They are not flat and do not cover the plate! First, there is no convex curvature, the plastic is flat, but it doesn't lie flat on the cymbals. The screw holes are approximately 1/4" - 1/2" thick, as are the sides of the cover. So the plastic lid sits so high above the plate. And cover the exact size of a standard license plate from outside edge to outside edge. This way your plate doesn't sit in the lid, the edges of the lid literally sit at the very edge of your plate. This will result in a box that is 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Needless to say, this doesn't work with my frame.
