We actually bought two of these. The first was used for the VHS/DVD rack from which we lost the original key. So this particular item was perfect as the bracket was already on the closet. However, I didn't realize that the side of the bracket needed to be attached in a special way, so when we bought it for a similar cabinet to use for children's books and crafts. it did not work. We don't have the option to attach the bracket to the cabinet and when we tried this. We ended up just ruining the whole thing. So as long as you ONLY need the lock side, that's pretty good. However, if you need to use all the parts and are trying to attach them to something that hasn't been installed yet, something like that, then it's not a good idea. On the other hand, the kids tried to open the DVD cabinet as soon as we installed it and ended up breaking one of the keys VERY easily. Glad they sent two! Unfortunately, if a child can bend it without much effort, then these keys are quite cheap. I wasn't really expecting something heavy, but I was NOT expecting a small child to be able to bend the key so easily.
