Super easy makes a great mug. One trick is to experiment with temperature control. I find my favorite scent comes from using water at around 140 degrees Fahrenheit. I use a Bonavita electrically temperature controlled heating tank. Heats up quickly, keeps the temperature within a few degrees. Of course, the best coffee comes from freshly ground coffee beans, but with this filter you can make a very tasty cup of ground coffee from your favorite brand. Measure carefully so you know how much coffee to use to get the strength you want. Pour enough water over the coffee grounds to wet them and let sit for a minute. I usually stir water with a plastic or wooden spoon after my next batch. If you want your coffee to be hotter, heat it up in the microwave. Preheating the cup makes it hot enough for me. Pour clean water back into the pot after heating the cup. Wait a minute for the temperature to rise a few degrees. One of its best features, the lack of a paper filter, also leads to a problem. The ultra-fine mesh will become clogged after a few days of use. I haven't tried vinegar yet, but I've found that soaking the filter in concentrated chlorine bleach (Chlorox, etc.) in a closed container for about 20 minutes cleans it well. After soaking the filter, simply pour the bleach back into the bottle. There is so little residue in the filter that you won't notice any difference in bleaching. The way to tell if a filter needs cleaning is obvious. It slows down a lot. Test it by pouring in a full cup of water and see how quickly it flows out. When it's clean, the water flows pretty fast. I really like this product. It's as simple as a coffee maker can make it. Quite elegant in its simplicity and beautifully made.
