I redesigned my lamp's socket outlet so that all of my lamps in my house use the same lightbulbs (LEDs). Firstly, because it has a pluggable cord instead of a pigtail. Although it worked great I just cut off the old output wires, stripped a little less than 1/4" of the insulation, twisted the stranded wires together and then used a needle nose pliers to grab the insulated portion of the cable and push in. It worked too with stranded wires great and held tight If I were to use a pigtail connection I would have to tie the wires together.
