Training bracket, simple but time-consuming installation - done!

I'm NOT the most comfortable person, but not the least. I would say that I am a normal Joe. So I decided to skip installing my $100 TV dealer and do it myself. I've visited two different stores to study and experiment with the displays and read about 50 different mount reviews online so I feel qualified for this article. I originally wanted a "full articulation" mount that could slide out and pivot sideways, but every review I read had bad comments about sag/instability, so I settled on a simple tilt. I just bought a brand new Vizio flat screen that I was saving MONTHS on and it wasn't cheap so more than anything I wanted a mount that would protect my investment. And I got it. This thing is rock hard; I bet he could hold me (180 pounds) if I hold on to him. The install took longer than I wanted (about an hour) but just because it was my first TV install made me nervous and had to drive to the corner Home Depot a few times to get stuff I didn't know about . . to need. So, with that in mind, here are some tips/pointers for you. 1) FIND THE SUPPORTS. If you don't know how, ask someone who does. I asked the guys at Home Depot and they corrected me. My studs were 19 inches apart (usually 16 inches) because I installed them over the chimney, so they were the wrong shape. You will want to do this 100% of the time. 2) - It comes with one level! When you're drilling wood paneling like me, you want to get it right the first time because you can't just putty and repaint bare wood. You have to be 1 and ready and the built in level was really helpful for that. 3)- You will need a drill, a 3/16 inch drill bit and a socket wrench. The drill is for pilot holes for snap bolts and a socket wrench to save you a lot of time and effort tightening the mounting bolts Studs (the bolts that come with the cleats) are huge and it takes some serious effort to get these puppies in - a good one thing but I did it with a small wrench and it was time consuming and tedious will use a socket wrench.4) - It comes with a bunch of hardware that you won't be using. But that's a good thing. Also, different TVs require different mounting hardware to cover all of their bases. Convenient Now my TV works and looks good and I don't worry about it. Seriously, if it's installed correctly, it's no joke. All in all an extremely strong mount, but have everything you need ready before you start the installation to save a lot of time. maybe you Ravenians!
