BEYIMEI PCIe 4X 6-port SATA card failed after 5 days

The device worked properly for five days. Then suddenly it stopped working. The windows event log was filled with storahci errors indicating that windows was trying to restart the device, which was literally trying every minute. The device light kept blinking, but the Windows reset command didn't work and the device didn't work. Windows' constant attempts to restart the device rendered the entire system almost unusable. For example, it took about half an hour to safely shut down the system. When I removed the device, the system immediately resumed normal operation. By the way, physically installing the device was not easy. It seems that this particular device deviated so much from standard PCIe dimensions that fitting it into a PCIe slot wasn't easy, with its metal bracket bumping uncomfortably against the case or the edge of the motherboard. I've never seen this with other PCIe devices on this computer. After some fiddling it ended up being properly installed, properly seated in the slot. Too bad it didn't work as the price is at premium level. At the time of writing this article, several PCIe 4X SATA cards are available and none of the brands I'm aware of have been released.
