Review on Filtrete 3US MAX S01 Maximum Filtration Installation by Anferny Pineda

I had to from 3m v 3m stopped making filters. Happy with this device I bought this one. I am disappointed with the quality of the mounting hardware provided and compared to my previous 3m device. I mistakenly thought that this block would be easy to adapt to the lines of the old block and the 3m dispenser already installed, but I was wrong. The old block was 1/4" including the dispenser, but this one is 3/8". So adapters were needed. Also, this block seems flimsy, but the hoses go in and out from the left and right instead of up and down like the old block. The difference is that you need about 10+ inches of space since the blog tubes are very narrow. Also, the hoses are not made of PEX; The hose is an industrial hose with thinner walls. This is important when using compression fittings as the insert needs to be slightly thicker to accommodate lighter wall tubing. Why use a compression fitting? Because if a cheap mortise hardware fails and requires weeks of thousands of dollars in cabinet repairs due to leaky connections, a brass hardware is still fine. The supplied fitting also only works for the scenario in the booklet. You will need a tee if you share a cold water supply. 3m also doesn't give you drywall anchors, so the unit won't be pulled hard against the wall, meaning that squeezing the replacement filter can cause the unit to detach from the back wall. Additionally, the old unit's filter threads were large and easy to bite and twist under the sink, while this unit had tiny threads and required more attention and effort to install the filter. This will be my last purchase of a 3m filter system. I also assume that 3m no longer makes filter housings and will probably have to do it again soon, but not at 3m.
