They don't work until you wiggle the iPad back and forth to connect it. The original keyboards I bought a while back didn't require any "settings", just snap on and use. It's terrible. As you can see in the second image, the keyboard is plugged in, but the iPad won't connect unless you fiddle with it. The packaging was also disappointing, and both keyboard cases had been left with remnants of tape from a previous sale. The stickers were placed over the serial number on the boxes, and one of them came with no backing in the box. I don't think they were 'refurbished', just sent back as is. Apple would never approve of that. I'll see if I can get her back.
