Plastic coating covers entire steel shank
Steel looks like hot dip galvanized. The steel itself has a matte plastic finish that covers all of the steel except for the threads. I wanted all steel to be coated to prevent scratches etc so this fits the bill. Inserting a hook into a 2x6 bar required a pilot hole since the wood was dry and hard, which was to be expected. In short, the hood works as it should.
