I bought two of these after reading the product reviews and I have to say after finding the latest driver it works quite well. It is more optical than a laser and has both advantages and disadvantages. In this case, I've found that the optical method is a little less finicky when used on an opaque surface, as the lasers eventually stop working when dirt on the surface interferes with their reception. It has a lot of weight and the responses at 2000dpi and above are pretty clean. Despite all that, the price of this mouse is a star: a) No tilt wheel. For me personally, this is the main way to navigate back and forth when browsing pages. Thumb controls (default) feel completely unnatural. Left-Right vs. Up-Down for these things should be the default on absolutely all mice in my opinion. I'll say I understand why this isn't a feature as many gamers don't want to accidentally press a key, but this can be disabled in profiles and it boils down to building on top of Logiclon. b) Cables are a bit short. It doesn't matter, and the quality of the braided cable is quite high, but gamers often use large machines with tall or top-mounted connectors. I have a fairly large desk with cable management installed and I had to get a little creative to wire it up. An extra foot would do, but it's negligible since extension cords or hubs can be used. c) The text in the configuration screens is SUPER tiny and I'm still not sure if the color change feature is working properly. There seems to be a growing trend in the PC/gaming market towards bullying gamers with disabilities outright, ie 'visually impaired bullying'. The user interface for this software is no exception. Honestly, here for a $10 mouse, although I really don't care. As I often say in games, I worry a lot less about Barbie Dress Up and more about accuracy and functionality, which seems fine. and I might give friends or family a spare, but I'll probably look for another mouse with a tilt wheel.
