Review on Flashforge Dreamer Printer Single Extruder Clear by Brian Page

Revainrating 3 out of 5

DOA control panel, no after-sales service

There are no major defects, so I will upgrade this rating to 3 stars, it would be more if tech support was helpful but hey we can't get everything we want) Old review (first impression) Give 2 stars for style, 0 stars for functionality. When I received this printer last week, the tape that went to the printer's LCD panel was ripped upon arrival, rendering it unusable. I've tried contacting support to no avail, so I'm now stuck with a $400 paperweight until the replacement cable I bought arrives and I fix it myself, not thanks to customer service. For obvious reasons, the printer has not yet been tested. so there could probably be more problems with it if it's so poorly made. The nozzle was very awkward to fit properly and the Allen key that came with it was oversized and looked like someone had bent it to fit (again, very dubious work). The way the pressure coils work is also a headache, they use these tiny 0.5kg coils and the way you put them on almost guarantees you'll catch the sharp in this little deathtrap Cutting corner in hand, I thought about just getting an external spool holder and run the filament out. only through the side because fitting inside was such a problem. Finally, it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, but the print bed was absolutely tiny, and the size of the printer itself greatly exaggerates how much actual print space you have to work with (the large side is about 2.3 times the size). Medium debit card size for reference), so don't expect anything to be printed particularly large. I have a really decent Imaker or Prusa Ult Printer. I wouldn't personally recommend this as while this printer claims to be self-contained I don't see any filters on it so I doubt it will help with vaping and I seriously doubt the lid seal is even remotely airtight ...and I know for sure that it's going to take some work to even remotely seal it with all those random screw holes on the underside that don't actually connect to anything. It's not so much a closed printer, but more of an "offer to be closed" printer. There's no way to return it anyway, so I'll probably just take this thing as a backup printer if it works.

Pros
  • Patented nozzle design - updated several times, the wire became more even and smooth, improving the surface quality of the model
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
