Review on 🎧 Sony D-NE518CK: ATRAC3/MP3 CD Walkman with Car Kit - Optimize Your In-Car Entertainment by Peter Nobles

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Small things aside this is a very decent product

This MP3/ATRAC/CD player with car kit was just what I needed to play MP3s in my car. I keep the player in the glove box and leave the "remote" outside to swap songs. It's cheaper than buying an MP3 head unit for your car. The first (and so far only) MP3 CD recorded with the Musicmatch Jukebox worked great. I have a regular stereo in my car so the sound quality is "good" as I'm not a music lover. I usually listen to news radio anyway. :-D By slightly adjusting the volume on the CD player and stereo, we managed to get the optimal volume. And with a set of batteries, the player remembers the settings (and even the last song played) for easy re-recording next time. People who complain about the player resetting should leave a set of batteries in the player itself. One pair in particular lasted a long time. when most of the juice is supplied by the car adapter when in use. Sony could do better. Just a few nits to choose from. 1) The "Toggle Song” beep was too loud and it's either all on or all off. I wish they had the option to choose 3-4 different volumes. 2) The power supply must have a pass-through connector so I can connect a cell phone adapter or something. It doesn't look like this little CD player uses that much power, does it? 3) The cassette adapter should also tell the CD player to "stop" when the adapter has stopped playing (e.g. the stereo has been turned off or the adapter has been removed). ) instead of stopping the player with the remote control. 4) The cassette adapter could be quieter as it creaks slightly when in use. These are minor issues if the basic functionality is ok though, and cheaper than buying a real MP3 car stereo while still being portable. If you need to listen to MP3s in your car, check out this MP3/CD player that delivers on the promise with features like bass boost, remote control and more.
