The first 50w unit worked fine for about 2 weeks then I noticed the temperature in the tank dropped to about 76 while the heater was set to 78. I also noticed that sometimes the heater LED would flash indicating the tank temp was between 78 and 80 while the thermometer was still reading a temp around 76. So I figured I was unlucky that I had received a faulty unit and ordered a new one. The new unit was even worse. I tested it before putting it in the tank. The symptoms were the same, right out of the box. So I increased my target temp to 80 to see what happens. The device showed either a temperature of 80 or 80 above 82, and the actual temperature was just above 76 and sometimes dropped even lower. I received a refund for this. Another thing is the customer service which sucks. I called and said the suction cups weren't working well. They said it was the first time they had heard of this complaint and I was put on hold. While waiting, I googled and found that this was a common complaint about this device. When the clerk came back I told her that while I was on hold I found this issue described in some reviews. She said I needed to speak to someone else and transferred my call. I had to leave a message as no one answered the phone. Two months later I'm still waiting for a call back.
