Review on 💡 Belkin Single Outlet MasterCube Surge Protector: Space-Saving Wall-Mount Power Defense (1045 Joules) by Kevin Mitchell

During a recent power outage I switched to generator power, but unbeknownst to me the neutral wire in the generator plug broke. This resulted in some outlets in the house being powered by 240VAC for a few seconds until I turned off the generator. The wave destroyed my then unprotected fridge, but all electronic devices in the house connected to the MasterCube survived. The momentary overload smoked the MasterCubes (literally), but they all saved the devices connected to them. As a former electrical engineer, I had to take apart one of the dead blocks and look inside. Very happy with the quality of the components. Belkin even covered the internal varistors - one of which was completely blown - with small fireproof "sleeves" to contain any flames that might result from the massive overload. There's a lot of good tech packed into these little units and I've ordered a few more including one for my fridge and one for my freezer. Better late than never! Edit (July 2013): A thunderstorm recently hit our phone line and the Belkin device saved me once again. I have L-Com whole house phone security at my office entrance which serves as my main security. It was smoky and the Belkin unit inside, which served as secondary protection for my phone and modem, brought the protection of that gear to life. These devices have saved me a lot of money and heartache. I just ordered three more!
