Doesn't mix well with water

I have used electrolyte powders for many years. This is a requirement for working outdoors during harsh summers here in South Florida. I've been very happy using the RecoverORS electrolyte product for the past few years, but at $1.20 per serving, it gets pretty pricey with multiple daily doses. So I was happy to stumble upon Ultima Powder, which is much better priced ($0.30 per serving) and doesn't come in individually wrapped servings like RecoverORS. When it came time to prepare my first batch, my excitement was gone. It does not mix, it floats in the form of small balls that stick to the walls of the cup and the surface of the water. I've tried different cups that didn't help. Using a whisk helped a little, but not enough to make it worth messing up another thing in the kitchen. That issue aside, the coloring is quite dark and the flavor is strong, especially considering the serving is a tiny scoop. It's not a big deal, but worth mentioning if you're used to a "lighter" tasting powder. I hope the company comes back to the mixing issue because it's a deal breaker. Not worth drinking powder chunks to save a few bucks, how do I even know I'm getting my electrolytes if so much product isn't mixed? When this jar runs out I will not be buying this brand again. I will return to RecoverORS and in the meantime keep trying other brands to find a good alternative.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
