Prices vary but at the time of my purchase these were the cheapest black socks per pair from a reliable brand. I bought twelve pairs so I could have a separate drawer for everyday socks alongside my patterned socks. They've replaced a hodgepodge of bursting Gildan and a few other general store brands. I've already cycled through these pairs twice with light hiking and normal everyday use, machine wash and dry. Pros: Good value for money without sacrificing too much quality. prone to discoloration as quickly as others in this price range - cooling technology *cons - "X-TEMP" marking under my feet is too "X-TREME" for me - there are cheaper options on the market that are willing sacrificing quality cost . *A note on the cooling inside: the cooling technique definitely catches my eye, I thought it would work differently than it actually does. I wear LL Bean hiking shoes for general use during the cold months and Maine mud season and for hiking year round. They're not marketed as hiking socks (and certainly not for the price), but I figured the cooling tech would keep your feet dry too - not so much. I'm wearing a thick sweater and my feet get wet, especially on long walks in boots. Interestingly, while the socks have quite a bit of padding for their price range, the socks dry very quickly once the boots are removed. This means that while the socks don't wick moisture very well, airflow and breathability are surprisingly good when in an environment that lets your feet "breathe". I also wear a cheap pair of breathable sneakers that go really well with them - again, I usually wear a heavy sweater, but thanks to the airflow, these socks keep my feet dry.
