Poor Design - Poor Execution

In general, I was delighted with this item. It had the look we wanted, the style and quality was decent for the price. However, due to poor execution and design, this was not possible. First, design. hand placement. The four arms go straight left and right from the base, parallel to the ceiling. This is a problem because the fixture is SO close to the ceiling and after you install the bulbs they are very close to the ceiling, within 1-2 inches. Lamps, including LEDs, can get very hot. I was immediately concerned about discoloration of the ceiling paint and possible fire due to the heat generated by the lightbulbs. Temperature issues aside, the bulbs are so close to the ceiling that they create very bright spots on the ceiling. This light effect is undesirable. Check out the pictures from other reviews after installation, spots of light on the ceiling just above the bulbs, glowing balls are not attractive. Finally you may be wondering why I don't have a picture of it installed myself, well it's because the set screws weren't long enough to go through the base and be secured with nuts. I read other reviews and other people had the same problem. The screws are so short that they do not loosen the base to be attached. If you try to squeeze through, you risk damaging the ceiling. Of course I didn't realize they were too short until I spent some time removing the existing bracket, assembling a new one, climbing a ladder, setting up the wire and connecting. You always hate wasting your time. Do yourself a favor and buy a satellite with a longer base so it's a little farther from the ceiling and make sure the screws are long enough to get the job done.
