I used to use Harbor Frieght diamond sharpening pads. They just went up to about 800 grit. I then added some wet/dry sandpaper up to 2000 grit, but without a leveling stone and a solid work surface, my knives still weren't as sharp as I'd like. On the first day of use I was able to get the blade sharp enough to easily cut paper like in commercials. it's not professional. Class, but it will make my knives much sharper in the kitchen and in the field!
