USB-C failed - data storage

I made the mistake of uploading files via USB 3.0 and it worked. I threw away the packaging. Then I try to plug the drive into my computer and the USB-C part doesn't work. It's not deep enough to properly engage the slot, nor did it work on my computer. Heck, I wish I had kept the package and sent it back.
