The first thing that struck me was how extremely wide they were. I wear medium width. I ordered medium width. What I received was marked medium width. However, they fit as wide as EEE. They were so wide that I ran out of velcro to adjust the width. Only a tiny bit of Velcro held the straps in place. I tried soft hiking socks but that didn't work. I've tried high cushioning hiking socks and that didn't help either. My heel was floating in the heel box because it was too wide. So if I walk on anything other than level pavement, my heels and toes slip everywhere, putting me at risk of spraining my ankle. The rocks looked like they were about to come loose. I also noticed that there are a few bumps at the bottom of the insoles. So I always rode with my socks rolled up in my boots. I ordered 10 and they fit like a 10 in length. In terms of materials and finish, I felt the materials were too flimsy and brittle. Nevertheless, I found the shoes to be well made. Verdict: ridiculously wide heel to toe; lumpy inside; fragile materials; but they look very nice.
