The laptop, full size keyboard, speakers and 24 inch curved monitor crammed into the hospital table on wheels was a bit cramped. (I often lie in my hospital bed and pull this table in front of me to work on my laptop.) The monitor was recently purchased and the extra weight made the (not expensive) table wobble a bit. Attaching the arm to the end of the table where the overall support of the table when swinging is greatly improved. That hand really opened up a lot. The assembly was so easy I didn't even bother to read the instructions. Even when the arm went down after attaching my monitor, I just put an allen wrench in my elbow and tightened the tension. I didn't mess with the cable as the monitor hangs directly over my laptop. There was no point running the wires from the side and up the arm. I just used a piece of velcro to keep the wires looking neat. I found the arm to be fairly stable, and it allows me to raise and lower the monitor, tilt it forward or back, and swivel it left or right as I like. The original stand for my monitor only allowed for slight forward/backward tilt and no other adjustments. I am completely satisfied with this monitor mount. It is comfortable, stable and easy to assemble. I would buy again.
