Quiet when hovering horizontally or upwards. A bit noisy when looking down. I'm not sure I would have noticed the noise when camping as there is a lot of night noise in the forest anyway. Fan speed and light brightness are about what I would like in a 1 to 4 person tent. Just enough to stir the still air and see something. Slightly brighter than a full moon and not blinding. Very good radiation behavior - solid, not a single bright spot. When you press the button, both the light and the fan start running at the lowest level, which I like. I tested the 2 hour fan setting first - the timer is only accessible via the infrared remote. The fan speed must be selected before pressing the timer button. The fan worked 1 hour 58 minutes. Short enough before 2am for me. I wish there was a button on the fan case itself for the timer function. I don't really think I would need any other remote control features, especially in a small tent, but I think I could appreciate it after using it a few times. I also tried turning on the fan and selecting 3 hours without turning on the light first. The fan worked for about 3 hours and the light was not on. So it appears that you turn on the fan/light and then press the timer button. It fits me! I was able to get all combinations of light/fan/timer modes. I ordered this fan/light because of the timer function. Other fans/lights ran all night and either left me with a dead battery or woke me up in the middle of the night when it got too cold and the fan was still running.
