Part of the first problem might be that it's more powerful than advertised. I have a 40G hex so it's big. and to find something to replace my Whisper 480 I need something >2ft of buoyancy so I went with a medium size and it blows the fish through the tank. The two real problems are that the hole doesn't match my 1" downspouts, so it's probably sucking more from the top of the tank than through the bottom gravel pack. And second, it's LOUD. Not a bad product, but not well suited for my application.
