Review on VCTRYSDR Aluminum Bicycles Mountain Installation by Peter Sullivan

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Serves its purpose, but could be better.

I wanted to give this unit 4 stars with the caveat that it only got a good review because of the price and light weight. If you think about it now, they probably only deserve 3 stars. The only problem is that the bottles tend to fall off the side even if you bend the clip to fit the bottle. The clamp just doesn't feel big or bulky enough. I somehow got around this by using tiny elastic cords to hold the bottle. Haven't tested them properly yet, but even with my bungee cords I feel like the bottles can still fall out over rough terrain. They SHOULD hold up on smooth, paved, or gravel roads, but I'm still concerned about how they'll behave if I'm pedaling hard and leaning the bike back and forth quickly. I was planning to buy a couple of larger water bottles than the Powerade in my photo so that may affect how these holders work. I'll update the review when I've given them a proper test. In the meantime I will say that I recommend them if you are on a very tight budget but still need bottle cages. Just be ready to come up with something to overcome their design flaw. I haven't even ridden my bike since I installed them and I can already tell it will be MUCH nicer than carrying a heavy fanny pack that I ride in and my lower back gets sweaty in. At least as long as the bottles stay in place.
