I did a lot of research to choose a carpet cleaner. This one had the best reviews. I actually used it with my new Hoover carpet cleaner instead of the solution that came with it. It worked surprisingly well. Our light colored carpet was very dirty but after I used it it went back to its original color. One trick I've gleaned from other reviews is to dampen the carpet first and then use it. My vacuum cleaner had a rinse cycle. First, I went all over the rug to slightly dampen the fibers of the rug. Carpet fibers are expected to absorb the Bissell cleaner better. It seemed to help because I got rid of all the dirt. The aroma is also excellent. The last "professional" product I used when we rented it from Home Depot was too strong. It was light and fresh.
