Review on SINGER Sewing Machine Needles, 1-Pack, Size 18, Pack of 3 by Gelin Battle

I don't know if these are genuine Singer needles. I have been sewing occasionally for over 50 years. These are the softest steel needles I've ever come across. The first was bent on the first stitch. The second turned off after about twenty. I sewed a piece of nylon ripstop between two thin pieces of nylon tape. Usually use 16 but I wanted to use a thicker thread. So I bought these 18s. At over $1.50 each I was hoping for a better needle. I know this isn't a machine (Necchi Lydia3) because I switched to a different pack of 16 and was able to finish sewing with the same thread. Maybe it was bad luck. I do not know.
