Mild steel needles, they bend, at least mine do.

I don't know if these are genuine Singer needles. I have been sewing occasionally for over 50 years. These are the softest steel needles I've ever come across. The first was bent on the first stitch. The second turned off after about twenty. I sewed a piece of nylon ripstop between two thin pieces of nylon tape. Usually use 16 but I wanted to use a thicker thread. So I bought these 18s. Hit and miss.

My original review had 15 yards of polypropylene tape and Velcro and not a single broken needle. just kept going. No broken needles, no bent needles, just powerful precision. This is the first time I've sewn something this thick without changing needles. A few weeks later I had to sew more polypropylene tape and a more complex three-layer canvas. The singer's needles worked great at first, but when they started to jam, they quickly gave out. I probably went 1000 yards of thread through the…

Strange consistency of the needles.

I sew fleece with layers of different absorbent or shock-absorbing materials in between. Sometimes the layers get a little thicker, so I wanted to get stronger needles. It's strange that there are more needles in the cases than there really are. I'm still trying to figure out why they don't add more needles to them and just take a little bit more. In this day and age when everyone hates plastic in landfills, that seems like a no-brainer to me. At least once a week I would break or bend needles,
