I've unpacked and installed quite a few printers in my life and I've never had a problem like this. This printer contains four "drums" and each drum contains a separate toner cartridge. Inside the drum unit is a single, very thin and very fragile wire known as the "corona wire" that is exposed to the outside. Message "DRUMS!". Following the on-screen instructions, I had to remove each photoconductor and wiggle the green tab back and forth a few times to "clean" the photoconductors, which you will recall are brand new. My first attempt at doing this seems to have gone well. , but the printer disagreed, still insisting that all four drums were dirty. On the second try, the corona wire literally popped out and ripped off the yellow drum unit, rendering it - and the printer - completely unusable. Surprisingly, Brother's customer service was responsive and helpful. They replied to my email the next work morning and sent me four replacement drums overnight and free of charge by noon. Surprisingly, this solved the problem and everything started working again! Now I have an amazing printer that does a great job and I'm sure the manufacturer will support their products!
