I bought this laptop both as a backup for my work computer and for personal computing needs. So far it's been great for both of them! As a backup for work, this PC hasn't succumbed to the pressures of Windows 10, Office 365 (installed on my work subscription PC), and every video conferencing app known to man. Ditto for my old laptop which freezes and freezes during video conferencing with Office. Although the CPU and memory usage is a bit higher than I would like, preventing some malware from running helped a bit. For my personal computing needs, I installed a beginner-friendly Linux distro (Mint 20) and a lightweight desktop (XFCE), although I'm sure Cinnamon or Mate will run fine. This setup was amazing: super fast and stable, capable of delivering great download/upload speeds even with Firefox decorated like a Christmas tree. Installing a second operating system was a fairly painless process, even for a Linux newbie. With this configuration, the computer runs much quieter and can easily handle all sorts of programs running at the same time. The physical car is good, especially for this price range. The keyboard is comfortable and the backlight is nice. While the display isn't quite as good as the glass screen on my fancy work laptop, it's great for crunching documents and watching movies/TV shows. The speakers and webcam are mediocre, but if you care about those things, you probably have external speakers/webcam anyway. Battery life is decent, but not enough for a full work day; I can get 4-5 hours from a full charge. I also like the size - it's a good compromise between a hybrid tablet or netbook and a brick laptop. Overall I'm very happy with this machine - I think Asus has a winner (although as usual Windows leaves a few things to be desired). It's not a gaming laptop, an ultraportable tablet-like device, or a setup for programs that require massive processing power. However, I think this is a great everyday car at a reasonable price.
